1. CWA/QWEST BARGAINING PROPOSALS DUE BY JANUARY 12, 2008

The 2008 CWA/Qwest bargaining proposal process starts with submitting bargaining proposals to your Local Union. All bargaining proposals for CWA Local 7200 Qwest workers need to be at the CWA Local 7200 Union Hall no later than January 12, 2008.

If you need a bargaining proposal form, give me a page and I will see that you get a form or call the Union Hall at 722-7200.

I will be a part of the CWA Local 7200 Resolutions Committee that will meet on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 to sort through the bargaining proposals submitted by members. This Committee's job is to organize and prepare the submitted proposals for the CWA/Qwest Bargaining Proposal Meeting on January 23, 2008 so members can vote on them.

I can submit a bargaining proposal on your behalf if you e-mail me the following information:

a) Date
b) Identify issue
c) Give me the name and contact information of the person submitting the bargaining proposal. That way the Resolution Committee can ask questions of the person who submitted the proposal if necessary.
d) List demand
e) Give reasons
f) Give specific examples

2. CWA/QWEST BARGAINING PROPOSAL MEETING, JANUARY 23, 2008, 7:00 P.M.

At 7:00 p.m. on January 23, 2008, Qwest CWA Local 7200 members will go over all of the CWA/QWEST bargaining proposals submitted.

CWA District 7 has directed CWA locals to prioritize their top five bargaining proposals and send them onto CWA District 7. Wages, pensions or other benefit issues like healthcare will be excluded from the local's top five bargaining proposals since CWA District 7 already considers them to be top priorities.

3. CWA DISTRICT 7 QWEST BARGAINING MEETING, MAY 6, 2008

The CWA District 7 Qwest Bargaining Unit meeting is scheduled to begin the afternoon of Tuesday, May 6, 2008 following the close of the District 7 meeting per the Q-190 received on November 29, 2007 from CWA District 7 Administrative Director to the Vice President Reed Roberts:
http://www.cwadistrict7.org/Qwest%20Letters/Qwest-Letters-2007/Qwest-Letters-101-150/190-qwest-Q-2007.htm

During this meeting, the Delegates from various Locals will review and discuss the proposals submitted by the Locals as well as recommendations by the elected Committee and ultimately adopt our agenda for the talks with Qwest to negotiate a replacement agreement when the current contract expires on August 16, 2008.

4. CWA DISTRICT 7 BARGAINING REPRESENTIVES

The CWA Qwest Bargaining Committee that was elected at the 2007 Convention in Toronto consists of Suzie Miller from Denver; Malachy Sreenan from Seattle, Washington; Ken Saether from Eugene, Oregon; and Kent Anderson from Salt Lake City, Utah. Both Suzie and Malachy served on the 2005 Bargaining Committee.

CWA District 7 Bargaining Agent, Reed Roberts, will serve as the Union Chairperson, and Jay Boyle, who served on the 2003 Qwest Bargaining Committee, will serve as Union Co-Chair.
